Street Meat

What is the polite ettiquette when you see a hunky and shirtless guy walking toward you?

Do you stare, as they obviously know what they are doing and like the attention? Or do you avert your eyes and have a few snatched, furtive glances?

I had this situation yesterday - was out shopping, a guy was walking in my direction with his top off (it was relatively warm but not really hot enough to justify it - wasn't complaining though!) and he had a really, really fit body. Muscular and well-built, lean enough to see abs but not scary-veiny-lean, and a nice dusting of light fur on his pecs and stomach. He was obviously a bit of a show-off and I admit, I looked.

Surely this is a mutually beneficial relationship? Symbiosis - we both get something out of it! Or probably I'm just a perve...

Tribulus Terrestris

When I see a supplement I've not tried before, on special offer, I think to myself - what's the worst that can happen? If I try it and it doesn't do anything then I haven't lost much money - if I try it and it has great benefits then I'll want to keep using it!

Such is the situation with tribulus terrestris, which is billed as a herbal product that will 'naturally' boost your testosterone levels. Benefits are alleged to be improved muscle gain and improved libido/erections, both consequences of the testosterone boost. Well, I don't really need any help with my erections but increasing muscle sounds good so I'm giving it a try.

Directions are no more than 3 capsules per day, preferably with a meal. I've had 2 so far, haven't noticed any effects yet though - but maybe it takes a while to kick in!

I've heard side effects can included increased spots, so if I notice that myself I will probably stop using them - but will keep an eye on things and form my own opinion as to whether it is any good. Apparently the jury's out as to whether they actually do anything, though I remember hearing from some people a while ago that they did have an effect.

So, will I become a testosterone-soaked, priapic hunk? Watch this space....

Julie & Julia

If you want a light-hearted, easy to watch film with the usual great performance by Meryl Streep, I'd recommend this film to you. It almost inspired me to take up cooking. Almost...

I also liked Amy Adams but then I think she's just very watchable in anything. Funny to think the first time I ever saw her was guest starring in a Season 6 episode of Buffy.

I wonder how many blogs have been turned into books/films by now? And how many will be in future?

Who will be the next Anne Frank of the blogging world? I guess it must be really weird to see the story of your life up on screen, with someone else playing you and saying things you've said. I think it would really creep me out. Still, I reckon I'm very safe, no one would come and make a film of me...I'd have to get a life first!

Spare Tyre

So this weekend starts with a quiet night in, followed tomorrow morning by me attempting to replace the inner tube in my rear bike tyre. I say 'attempting', in theory I should be fine as I've done it before a couple of times, but I do tend to get in a bit of a mess with it and lose my temper - I think the last time I did it I kicked the bike frame rather hard.

The bike didn't really care, but my foot wasn't best pleased.

Assuming that is done, I'll be heading to the gym for my 3rd and hence final session of the week, where (hopefully amongst other things) I will be doing some squats, some deadlifts, some shrugs and some dumbell flyes. Mainly because I haven't done them the rest of this week! What I have been doing is the usual round of hammer curls (3x8 @ 17.5kg), dumbbell benchpress (3x8 @ 30kg aimed for, in reality I think I probably did 8, 6, 6), one-arm bent over row (3x8 @ 30kg) skullcrushers (3x8 @ 30kg) and then various machines. Still not particularly happy that I have a tiny bit of extra lard on my tummy at the moment but I don't suppose much can be done about that in just over 2 weeks!

Rest of the day will be shopping and other mundane household stuff, then Sunday is a road trip - should be good.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to come up with my holiday reading shortlist. It's really hard to decide what to take. I can't take too many as my weight will be over the limit (5kg for hand luggage, 25 or 27kg I think for main luggage) but I equally don't want to zip through my books in the first week and then have nothing for the rest of the time (as this will only encourage me to drink far too many mojitos and that's no good for anyone).

Something factual might be a good idea as I mostly read fiction - perhaps the new one by the guy that wrote Blink, Malcolm Gladwell I think it is - we'll see.

Top 10 Guys With iPhones

OK, so I've already made a post about the excellent/hot website Guyswithiphones which I'm sure a lot of people know about by now - just to recap, guys with iPhones take photos of themselves and post them in and other guys (with or without iPhones - I don't have an iPhone myself, dammit) post comments about them. That's it. Simple yet effective.

Anyway, the site has been going a few months now so I think it's time to present my top 10 pics so far - well, top 10 non-explicit pics anyway, as lots more would have made it into the hot list if nudity was allowed on my blog!

Please enjoy and feel free to suggest your own faves... I haven't ordered them in any meaningful way, my favourites would be gentlemen 1, 2, 4 & 9. Especially 9. Oh. Yeah.

(P.s. I'm suddenly acutely aware that many of my posts recently have been centred around more prurient interests and will endeavour to come up with some more family-friendly content shortly. In the meantime, feast your eyes on this little lot you nasty perves, hehe)

Super-hot. Answers please.

Would Ya? Part One

OK, so I find it amusing when you see someone and initially you think "Mmm, hot!" then you have a double-take and you kind of think, "Hmmm, ehhh maybe, I dunno..." it's kind of second thoughts.

I refer to these as 'would ya's' as in, would ya do 'em - should be seen as separate from ones that are obviously hot as hell and you don't even need to think about it!

First in this series, just because I happened to catch some of it last night, is a guy called Steve Backshall who is a naturalist and nature programme presenter, who has been on a doc called Lost Land of the Volcano. (He's the one on the left in these pics):

As you can see, he's got a great body (must be all that rock climbing, swinging through trees and swimming in piranha-infested waters) but what do we think? Hot or not? Would ya?

P.s. he's 36, single, but straight, fact fans!

Rav Wilding on Strictly Come Dancing

So Rav Wilding performed on Strictly Come Dancing on the BBC at the weekend. I didn't see it but I did see the 'dance-off' at the end between him and Martina Hingis, as they got the lowest score after the public vote.

Come on guys, why weren't you voting for sexy Rav?

Anyway, fortunately Rav was saved by the judges (well, 2 of them) so returns in a couple of weeks to dance again. We can only hope that each outfit will be tighter and skimpier than the last!

Erik Rhodes

This is my 4th porn-star related post, and this time it's Erik Rhodes' turn:

I like Erik - I've seen some people be really rude about him on the internet, saying he's a douchebag etc, and I really don't see any need for it - it's not like they even know him anyway. Perhaps they think they do because of his searingly honest blog (link in my blog selection on the right) but I read it from time to time and I just get the impression he's a depressed guy and doesn't really know how to cope with life. I think it's a bit odd that he has this totally dichotomous relationship with porn, in that he seems to hate it and what he's become doing it, yet doesn't really show much sign of stopping.

Then again, as one of Falcon's biggest stars, and considering they're one of the biggest gay porn studios, I think he should be proud of his achievements and perhaps be a little bit more gracious towards his fans who have put him there - but I dunno, I'm not a gay porn star so I can't comment. I just think it's a shame that there's someone who doesn't really seem to enjoy what they do, whereas a lot of other guys (including the ones I've commented on previously) genuinely seem to love it and have a lot of fun with it, which I find sexy.

Anyway, I think Erik is a cool guy, and while he's not really my type (I think he might be just a bit too bulky for me) I do think he's a handsome guy and a great performer. I wish him all the best and hope he finds a happy and content place to be, whether that's in porn or some other venture!

He's got really nice equipment though, so I think - play to your assets! Mind you, I didn't really enjoy the recent scene he did with Francois Sagat, in Ringside - not sure why as I thought they would be a good pairing, but I just didn't get much chemistry from it. I think Erik would go well with a slightly older guy.

Here Comes the Bride

So I was at a wedding at the weekend, in a beautiful old town in the Midlands (yes, I was surprised too, but they do have them!) and it was a really lovely day.

The only bad point was having to get up early to travel up there, but what can you do about that, huh? The weather was gorgeous, me and the fella looked handsome in our respective suits (me navy suit, very faint fine pin-stripe, checked shirt and dark blue tie - him, 3 piece grey suit with white shirt and pink tie) and the church was nice too. The bride's dress was very non-standard and not what I'd have picked but carried it off and looked very pretty. I felt a little uncomfortable as I only knew one other person there, and not all that well at that! Also, because the wedding was in a church, it was religious and although I have some beliefs I am not religious, so bending over to pray etc felt a little weird. And the hymns, of which there were three!

The reception was good though, plenty of food and drink, then Irish dancing (I avoided it as by this point the tiredness had got to me and I didn't feel all that great). I'm glad the Travelodge was cheap because it wasn't one of the best I've stayed in (hey, all the quaint B&Bs were fully booked, don't judge!) and I can add it to the list of 'Budget Hotels I've Had Sex In' - I reckon there's a book in that - "and do you know, the pillow was so thin when I was biting it, I bit clean through" or "

Generally I like weddings but reflecting on this and my brother's earlier in the year, I definitely prefer a civil service to a church. I felt my brother's service was more personal and had more genuine sentiment behind it. Though maybe that's just because it was my brother! Next year I've got at least another 2 weddings to go to, spaced out nicely though, and with friends that I am closer to so I am looking forward to them. Bf is dropping unsubtle hints (e.g. anvils) about proposals but I'm in no rush - after all, if you know you want to be with someone, you don't need a piece of paper do you? It's written on your heart.

Longshot

You fucked it up.
You should've quit.
Til circumstances had changed a bit.
Aaaahhh.

You fucked it up.
You jumped the gun.
I swore you off, but -
You climbed back on.

And when you said,
Of course you know.
Could I be blamed if I'd wished it so?
I don't think so.

You fucked it up.
Or was it you?
Cos when you said it,
I said it too.
What of it?

And all that stuff,
I knew before,
Just turned into,
Please love me more...

How to Have a Successful Gay Blog

It strikes me that some of the most popular gay-written blogs fall into one of two main categories:

1. Single guys who write in detail about various sexual escapades, often including photos of themselves (and they are invariably well-built and attractive)

2. Single guys who write in detail about how tragic/depressing their life is, how they can't find meaning in anything and they don't know how to ever break the cycle of grief (they may or may not also be well-built and attractive).

So why is this? I'm guilty of it myself (reading blogs like this, that is) and although I'm under no impression that anyone else is reading this, as I'm really writing it for myself, I do find it difficult to think of things I'd like to write about - after all, I've got a lovely partner and I'm happy. I suppose I could write about previous sexual encounters but that doesn't really interest me and I don't really want to put that out there, I'd prefer some things stay private (though does that make me a hypocrite when I enjoy reading it from others?)

Not sure there's an answer to this, just something I've observed. I'd like to find a really interesting blog written by a partnered gay guy with no hang-ups - just a well-written insightful commentary on modern life.

Does it exist? Perhaps I should brush up on my writing (I'm painfully aware I do not write well on here and that's mainly due to doing it in snatched moments when bored at work) and become the change that I want to see?

Or perhaps I should just post some pics of me in my pants? :-)

Lady Gaga

OK, so how could anyone NOT love Lady Gaga?

If you haven't got her album 'The Fame' yet, you really should. Even though it's uber-gay, it's just a great pop album and has way more hits than misses, sadly a rarity these days!

I love that she gives great, outrageous and over the top performances. People criticise her for trying to be the new Madonna, but I don't really get why someone who clearly loves what she does and wants to put on the best, most fun and creative show to bring some enjoyment to her fans should be criticised - just plain mean!

Did you see her performance at the MTV VMAs recently? If not, you need to check it out!

OK, so the singing isn't that great, but I think it's a cool performance. I really want to see her in concert now!

Trunks!

So my new Aussiebums have arrived, and I loooooooove them!

In case you forgot, they are these:

I think they look great - though obviously they are rather brief, and I am thinking that the back of them might go rather see-through when wet (the front is a bit more reinforced so probably wouldn't).

Still, they will be ideal for sunbathing and if I need to get up to grab a drink or whatever, I can always just sling a towel around my waist if I'm feeling self-conscious!

In the meantime - gym gym gym! I might not be quite Aussiebum model standard yet, but I'm getting there :-) The only thing is, because I've gone for a Small, the leg holes are a little tight (since I have quite big legs in relation to my waist) so although I am still going to do squats at least once a week, I'm hoping I actually don't put too much leg muscle on, otherwise they will start being uncomfortable to wear!

With these ones, my other Aussiebums 70's style square cut ones, and my two other Speedo's, I think I've got trunks pretty much covered, I still want the 60's style Aussiebum board shorts though, and that will be me pretty much set for beach gear - just bring on the sun!

Communication

For 27 years I've been trying/
To believe and confide in/
Different people I've found.

Some of them got closer then others/
Some wouldn't even bother/
and then you came around.
I didn't really know what to call you/
you didn't know me at all/
But I was happy to explain.

I never really knew how to move you/
So I tried to intrude through/
the little holes in your veins.

And I saw you.

But that's not an invitation/
That's all I get.
If this is communication/
I disconnect.
I've seen you, I know you/
But I don't know/
How to connect... so I disconnect.
